House cleaning on Cape Cod works best when it is boring in the right way: the same people arrive on the same day, they know where the dog sleeps and which counter is marble, and the house never gets far enough out of shape to need a rescue. Sentinel Cleaning Company has been cleaning Cape homes since 2008, and recurring residential cleaning is the work our longest standing clients have trusted us with, some of them for close to two decades.
We clean year round homes, second homes, and family houses from Bourne to Provincetown out of our base in Hyannis. Our crews are insured and background checked, we schedule seven days a week from 7am to 9pm, and every home gets a scope built around how the household actually lives. If you are looking for a reliable maid service or a regular housekeeper on Cape Cod, this is the page for you.
Weekly, biweekly, monthly, or one-time house cleaning
The right frequency depends on who lives in the house, how much sand comes through the door, and how much you want to think about it. Most of our residential clients are on a biweekly schedule, but every option below is available, and you can change it with the season.
Weekly cleaning
The house is maintained, not rescued. Kitchens, baths, floors, and dust never build up, and the per visit cost is the lowest of any schedule.
Best for families, pets, and busy summers
Biweekly cleaning
The most popular schedule on the Cape. Enough frequency to keep bathrooms and floors in shape, with a comfortable budget for a year round home.
Best for couples and most households
Monthly cleaning
A thorough visit that resets the house every four weeks. More builds up between visits, so each clean runs longer and prices closer to a light deep clean.
Best for tidy households and quiet off seasons
One-time house cleaning
A single visit before guests arrive, after a party, or to try us out. If the house has not been cleaned in months, we will recommend a deep clean instead.
Best for events, visits, and first time clients
Many Cape households shift frequency with the calendar: weekly from June through Labor Day when the kids, the grandkids, and the beach are all in the house, then biweekly or monthly from September to May. Tell us when your season changes and we adjust the schedule. There is no long contract to break.
What every house cleaning visit includes
Every recurring visit follows a written checklist, so the standard does not depend on who remembered what. This is the standard residential scope. Anything you want added or skipped goes on your home's notes, and the crew sees those notes every time.
Kitchen
Counters and backsplash wiped and sanitized, sink and faucet scrubbed and polished, stovetop and appliance fronts cleaned, microwave interior wiped, cabinet fronts spot cleaned, table and chairs wiped, trash emptied, floor vacuumed and mopped.
Bathrooms
Toilets cleaned inside, outside, and at the base, tubs and showers scrubbed, glass doors and mirrors cleaned streak free, sinks and fixtures polished, counters sanitized, towels folded or changed, floors washed by hand at the edges.
Bedrooms
Beds made or linens changed when fresh sheets are left out, furniture and headboards dusted, nightstands and dressers wiped, mirrors cleaned, floors vacuumed including under the edges of the bed.
Living and family rooms
All reachable surfaces dusted, electronics and picture frames dusted, cushions straightened and vacuumed, glass tables cleaned, lamps and shades dusted, floors and rugs vacuumed, hard floors mopped.
Throughout the house
Door handles, light switches, and railings disinfected, entry and mudroom cleared of sand, stairs vacuumed, baseboards spot wiped, cobwebs removed, trash and recycling taken out to your bins.
Rotating detail tasks
On recurring schedules we rotate one detail area each visit, such as baseboards, inside the microwave, window sills, ceiling fans, or the inside of the refrigerator, so the whole house gets detailed across a month without a separate deep clean.
Add ons you can book into any visit: inside the oven, inside the refrigerator, inside cabinets, interior windows, laundry, and sliding door tracks. Larger jobs like carpet extraction and full window cleaning are scheduled as their own service.
Kitchens and bathrooms: the full scope
Kitchens and bathrooms are where a house cleaning is won or lost, and they are where we spend the most time on every visit.
In the kitchen, the job is grease and crumbs. Counters get cleared, wiped, and sanitized, not wiped around the toaster. The stovetop gets degreased, including around the burners and knobs. The sink gets scrubbed, the faucet and handles get polished, and the disposal flange gets cleaned where odors start. Appliance fronts get wiped with the right product for stainless so they do not streak. Stone and quartz counters get a pH neutral cleaner, because an acidic spray will etch marble in a single pass.
In the bathrooms, the job is water and soap. Shower walls and glass get scrubbed to keep soap scum and hard water spotting from building into film. Toilets get cleaned at the base and behind the seat hinges, not just in the bowl. The caulk seam where tub meets tile gets attention every visit, because in a humid Cape bathroom that seam is where mildew starts first. Mirrors, chrome, and faucets finish streak free.

The same trusted crew every visit
The most common complaint we hear from people switching cleaning services is that a different stranger showed up every time. That is how a house cleaning slowly gets worse: nobody learns the home, so nobody notices what was missed.
We work the other way. Your home is assigned to a consistent crew, and that crew comes back visit after visit. They learn which rooms get the most traffic, how you like the beds made, which surfaces need special products, and where the sand collects. If a crew member is out sick or on vacation, we cover with someone who has already worked in your home or who has been briefed from your home's notes before they walk in.
- Insured and background checked. Every person who enters your home is a checked member of our team.
- Key, code, and lockbox handling. Most clients are not home when we clean. We keep access details secure and confirm when the job is done.
- Direct line to the owner. Priscilla Barbosa has led Sentinel since 2008, and the number on this page reaches the people who actually run your service.
- Notes that follow the house. Preferences, allergies, off limits rooms, and alarm instructions live in your home file, not in someone's memory.
Pets, products, and equipment
Pets. A lot of the homes we clean have dogs, cats, or both, and pet hair is part of the job. We vacuum upholstery, stairs, and the corners where hair drifts, and pay extra attention to the floors around food bowls and doors. Let us know about your animals when you book, including whether they should stay in a room or can roam while we work. Homes with shedding pets usually do best on a weekly or biweekly schedule, because hair builds up quickly between longer gaps.
Products. Our crews arrive with their own cleaning products, microfiber cloths, and tools. If you prefer specific products, for example for natural stone, unsealed wood, or a family member with allergies or sensitivities, tell us and we will use what you supply or adjust our lineup. Surface appropriate products matter on the Cape, where many homes mix older wood floors, marble, and brand new quartz under one roof.
Equipment. We bring vacuums, mops, extension tools for high dusting and ceiling fans, and step ladders. You do not need to leave anything out except fresh linens if you want the beds changed.
Sand, salt, and damp: cleaning a Cape house
A house cleaning checklist written for a suburb misses the three things that make Cape homes dirty.
Sand. Beach sand travels from the car to the mudroom to the stairs to the bed. It collects in slider tracks, under entry mats, in stair nosings, and in the seams of sofa cushions, and on hardwood it acts like sandpaper under every footstep. Our recurring visits treat entries, stairs, and sliders as priority areas from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.
Salt. Homes near the water in Falmouth, Chatham, Dennis, or Provincetown collect a fine salt film on glass, mirrors, and chrome. Salt pulls moisture from the air, so it smears under ordinary glass cleaner. We dissolve it and finish with a dry pass so glass and fixtures stay clear.
Damp. In Cape humidity, bathrooms without strong exhaust fans, closets on exterior walls, and under sink cabinets are where mildew starts. Regular cleaning keeps those spots in check, and our crews tell you when they see something that needs attention. Our guide to mold prevention for Cape Cod homes explains the humidity cycle.

How house cleaning is priced on Cape Cod
We do not publish a flat rate table, and we will tell you why. Two houses with the same square footage can be a two hour job or a four hour job depending on bathroom count, pets, how many people live there, floor types, and how far the house is from the beach. A price that ignores those things is either too high for you or too low for the crew to do the job right.
| What changes the price | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Frequency | Weekly and biweekly homes stay close to clean, so each visit takes less time. Industry averages show those clients paying 10 to 15 percent less per visit than one-time bookings. |
| Bathrooms | Bathrooms carry the most detail work, so bathroom count moves the price more than square footage does. |
| Pets and people | Shedding pets and larger households add hair, sand, and kitchen use between visits. |
| Starting condition | A house that needs a reset gets a deep clean first, then settles into a lower recurring rate. |
| Add ons | Inside the oven or refrigerator, interior windows, and laundry are priced per task, only when you want them. |
For planning, published 2026 industry averages put recurring house cleaning at roughly $130 to $280 per visit, with Cape Cod homes in the upper half of that range during the summer. Monthly visits price closer to a light deep clean because more builds up between them. We quote each home after a short walkthrough or a set of photos, and the recurring price we give you is the price you pay. Our pricing page explains how the ranges are built, and our guide to what house cleaning costs on Cape Cod goes deeper into the local market.
House cleaning in every Cape Cod town
Our residential crews cover the Upper Cape, Mid Cape, Lower Cape, and Outer Cape from our base in Hyannis. These are our most requested towns for recurring house cleaning.
We also clean homes in Harwich, Yarmouth, Orleans, Mashpee, Dennis, Brewster, Sandwich, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Bourne. For a closer look at the Mid Cape, read our guide to house cleaning in Barnstable, Falmouth, and Yarmouth.
If your Cape house is a second home that sits empty part of the year, our seasonal home cleaning covers opening, closing, and between visit cleans. If you rent it out, vacation rental cleaning handles the Saturday turnovers.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I schedule house cleaning on Cape Cod?
Biweekly is the most common schedule for year round Cape households. Weekly works best for families, homes with shedding pets, and busy summer months when sand comes in every day. Monthly suits tidy households and quiet off seasons. Many clients go weekly from June to Labor Day and biweekly or monthly the rest of the year.
Will the same cleaners come to my house every time?
Yes. Each home is assigned a consistent crew so they learn your house, your preferences, and the areas that need the most attention. If someone is out, we cover with a team member who has worked in your home before or who has been briefed from your home notes.
Do I need to be home during the cleaning?
No. Most of our residential clients are at work or off Cape when we clean. Our crews are insured and background checked, and we handle keys, door codes, and lockboxes securely and confirm when the visit is finished.
Do you clean homes with pets?
Yes. Many of the homes we clean have dogs or cats. Tell us about your pets when you book, including whether they should be kept in a room while we work. We pay extra attention to pet hair on upholstery, stairs, and floors, and pet homes usually do best on a weekly or biweekly schedule.
Do you bring your own cleaning products and equipment?
Yes. Crews bring their own products, microfiber, vacuums, and tools. If you prefer specific products for natural stone, wood, or allergies, we will use what you supply or adjust our lineup.
What is the difference between house cleaning and a deep clean?
Recurring house cleaning maintains the rooms you use every day: kitchens, bathrooms, floors, dusting, and beds. A deep clean goes after everything underneath, including baseboards, grout, inside appliances, and behind furniture. If a home has not been cleaned in a few months, we usually start with a deep clean and then move to a recurring schedule.
How much does house cleaning cost on Cape Cod?
Published 2026 industry averages put recurring house cleaning at roughly $130 to $280 per visit, with Cape Cod in the upper half of that range in summer. Weekly and biweekly clients typically pay less per visit than one-time clients. Sentinel quotes each home individually after a walkthrough or photos.
Is there a contract for recurring cleaning?
No long contract. You choose weekly, biweekly, or monthly, and you can change frequency with the season or pause when you travel. We only ask for notice so we can keep your crew and time slot consistent.
